Tachiyomi is a free, Opensource Manga Reader app for Android. That lets you read Manga, manhwa, manhua, light novels, and even some web Comics in one place. The app does not host any content by itself. Instead, it connects to many sites through add‑ons called Extensions.
What is Tachiyomi?
Tachiyomi is a community project. Many volunteers help fix bugs, add features, and translate the app. The code is public and opensource now
so anyone can check how it works and help improve it. This gives users more trust and control than most closed apps.

Tachiyomi is designed for people who love reading especially anime reading. If you enjoy long-running series, webtoons, or Japanese and Korean books and stories, this manga reader allows you to keep everything organized in one clean and simple library. Since some manga sources may contain mature titles, it is recommended for users aged 16 and above, rather than young children. You can download the app directly from our website using the link provided below.
There are many manga websites available online, but most of them are not properly optimized for mobile devices. Some platforms work mainly on computers, and not everyone has access to a laptop. Today, most people prefer using smartphones. You can now also check Astute Beta Server which is basically a beta testing platform that allows developers to test and refine various features and functionalities and report bugs in their mobile apps So you can now Check Tachiyomi Bugs and and easily report us at contact@tachiyomi.io
Many users try to browse manga sites on laptops, but this often comes with issues such as excessive ads and pop-ups, which can ruin the reading experience. Because of this, mobile apps have become a much better option—not only for manga readers but also for users who want faster, cleaner, and more customizable app experiences on their phones, such as those who prefer features and flexibility.
There are many manga apps available on the Google Play Store, but most of them contain too many ads or lack a proper library system. In the past, apps like Manga Rock were very popular because they offered a well-organized library and a smooth reading experience. However, that app is no longer available today.

Reading Modes in Tachiyomi
There are several modes in App. The first option on the left is reading mode, which has six choices. The default mode is the first one, but you can choose any of the other five as your default. The best choice is webtoon mode, which will be explained later. Next is the left-to-right mode, where swiping from right to left moves to the next page, and swiping left to right goes back. The right-to-left mode works the opposite way. The vertical mode lets you swipe up to go to the next page and down to return to the previous one. The continuous vertical mode, which is the second-best option, allows smooth scrolling up and down. However, it adds black spaces between pages in manhua and manhwa, which some readers may not like. Switching to webtoon mode removes these black spaces, giving a smooth and uninterrupted reading experience.
| Reading Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Left to Right | Pages move from left to right, similar to English books. |
| Right to Left | Pages move from right to left, standard for Japanese manga. |
| Vertical (Continuous) | Scroll down vertically, pages flow one after another. |
| Webtoon Mode | Optimized for webtoons/manhwa with long vertical panels. |
| Single Page Mode | Displays one page at a time for focused reading. |
| Double Page Mode | Shows two pages side by side, like a real book. |
